Public Education

We at the Chehalis Fire Department serve in many Public Education capacities. Below are just a few of the ways we can help educate the public on fire safety, medical emergencies, our daily operations, and more!

Public Service Announcements:

With the assistance of LIVE 95 / KITI 1420AM, we are able to get out important life safety messages to the community. These messages are recorded by LIVE 95 and vocalized by Olympic Elementary students who have shown academic excellence throughout the school year.

Public Education Classes:

  • Smoke House
  • Fire Extinguisher
  • Disaster Preparedness
  • Wildland Urban Interface
  • Life Safety
  • Preschool and Daycare Visits

Contact us for more information on scheduling public education classes.

Station Tours:

Most tours typically occur in the fall during Fire Prevention Week. During the tour, our objective is to educate our younger citizens on some simple life safety messages. We also dress in our structural gear to encourage them not be afraid if they, unfortunately, have to encounter us on the scene of an emergency. We also like to not just give a tour of our station but also our fire apparatus. At this moment due to the Fire Station being built on State and Sitka tours are on hold until construction is complete.

Fire Prevention Week Contest:

The Chehalis Fire Department hosts a fire prevention poster contest annually during fire prevention week in October. Participants from the Chehalis School District elementary schools may participate and win prizes for poster entries. See images below for some of our previous winners!
