WHAT: INDEFINITE CLOSURE OF EXHIBITOR AVENUE DUE TO BRIDGE SAFETY CONCERNS
WHERE: The City of Chehalis Public Works Department is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors that Exhibitor Avenue is closed to all vehicular traffic effective immediately due to structural concerns identified during a recent inspection of the bridge. The bridge has exhibited signs of significant deterioration that present a potential risk to public safety. Out of an abundance of caution, the City has closed the roadway indefinitely while engineers conduct further evaluations and develop recommendations for repair or replacement.
WHEN: The closure will remain in effect until the City can ensure the bridge is safe for public use. At this time, no reopening date has been established. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and obey all posted road closure signs and barricades. Access restrictions are necessary to protect public safety and prevent further damage to the structure.
Updates regarding the closure, engineering evaluations, and future construction plans will be provided as additional information becomes available.
