Historic Districts

City of Chehalis Washington Official Website

Our rich history is reflected in the design and architecture of both residential and commercial areas and Chehalis boasts three historic districts that are recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.  They include two residential districts and our historic downtown.

The Pennsylvania Avenue~West Side Historic District is a well-preserved, historically significant neighborhood built by the urban elite of Chehalis in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A self-guided walking tour booklet is available at the Lewis County Historical Museum.  The Hillside Historic District features many quaint and charming homes located in the eastern part of town.

Learn about the Downtown Historic District in the Historic Downtown Chehalis Walking Tour guide available at the Lewis County Historical Museum and Chehalis City Hall.  This self-guided tour features facts and stories of 40+ historic buildings scattered throughout downtown.
