Downtown Chehalis Plantings to Honor Breast Cancer Awareness

City of Chehalis Washington Official Website

Honor your loved one while helping to beautify downtown Chehalis.

Over the past year, the Chehalis Community Renaissance Team has been working to re-plant and improve the landscape on North Market Boulevard in Old Town. Most of the islands have now been planted and weeded. As we continue to beautify the area we would like to ask for your help. While the islands are planted with the foundation plants that will be there year-round, planting annuals to further brighten up the islands would enhance the downtown area even more.

We are looking for individuals or businesses to sponsor the planting of annuals on the islands and in the planters with the trees in them. We will be planting around the base of the trees with shades of pink, purple and white for breast cancer awareness to remember those who have been lost or are currently battling the disease. We would also like to stay with the pink, purple and white theme on the islands, as well.

An irrigation system has been added to the pots and islands, and while they will water the shrubs, they may not reach the annuals. We would like to ask that the business owners sponsoring the islands make sure that the annuals stay watered and help keep the area weeded.

The cost to sponsor a planter or island is $50. If you would prefer to plant the island yourself, a 20% discount will be given at Kaija's Garden and Pet on pink, purple and white annuals to stay within the color scheme.

All sponsors and honorees will be recognized on the Chehalis Community Renaissance webpage and Facebook site.

Please contact Patty Kaija at 360-508-0151 or Caryn Foley at 360-345-1042 ext 4, if you would like to help.
