Seasonal Wastewater/Poplar Tree Farm Maintenance Aide

The City of Chehalis Public Works Department is hiring a part-time, seasonal Maintenance Aide for the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Poplar Tree Farm.  

This position is scheduled to exist through the months of February and March, 2022.  The 2022 wage range for this position is $17.61 to $19.41 per hour. 

NATURE OF POSITION:

Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties in the operation, maintenance, repair, and care of the city’s wastewater departments.  Assignments may include the use of standard and specialized tools, power operated devices, and/or other equipment.  Assignments may also include operation and use of trucks, specialized vehicles and other construction or farming equipment incidental to regular duties. Assignments are usually carried out under general and/or specific supervision, with work scheduled and coordinated by the Wastewater Superintendent or designee.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Employees occupying this position will be required to follow all other job-related instructions and perform any other job-related duties requested by a supervisor. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Mows and maintains grounds, weeds, and cares for landscaping at the wastewater treatment plant or other public works facilities.

Assists in the care of the poplar tree farm, prunes, cuts, chips, mows and weeds around trees.
Cleans, organizes the facilities grounds and buildings as requested or scheduled.
Hoses and cleans wastewater tanks, equipment, and related facilities.
Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
Follows directions and implements written and/or oral instructions and assigned duties.
Performs related work as required.
