Business License Information

Business Plan

Dear Business Owner;

We are pleased to announce that the City of Chehalis has partnered with the Washington State Department of Revenue (DOR) for Business Licensing services.

DOR will process the City of Chehalis business licenses and renewals from now on. If you start a new business in Chehalis, you must apply to the DOR.

Registering with the City of Chehalis through DOR

The new DOR partnership gives you “one-stop shopping” to maintain or renew most of your state and local licenses. New or expanding businesses can apply online for their Chehalis license Endorsement along with other state licenses and city licenses, such as Centralia, Longview, Olympia, and dozens more. We are sure you will value the savings in wait time and overhead.

What do I have to do?

For a new business, go online to dor.wa.gov  and apply for your Washington State license and your City of Chehalis Endorsement.  You will be able to pay online from your checking account or credit card for a fast, secure transaction. If you do not want to go online, you can call the Department of Revenue at: 360-705-6741 and they will mail you an application.

If your business will require a Special License, such as second hand dealer, taxi, food trucks, burglar alarm installers, locksmiths, etc. before your Chehalis license endorsement can be approved, we require a background check to be done through our office.  This requires a form to be filled out, a copy of your identification and then to be submitted to our office at 1321 S. Market Blvd.  Allow approx. one week to be completed.    At this time, we do not charge fees.

Renewals of current licenses will be sent out by the Washington Dept. of Revenue (DOR).  If you do not receive a renewal notice by the time your license expires, contact the DOR online at dor.wa.gov  or call DOR at 360-705-6741.

What fees will I have to pay?

A new license is $50.00. Renewals will remain $20.00
